For You From The Word
Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. (Luke 1:29, NLT)
For You To Think About
Women who face an unplanned pregnancy are often confused, unsupported, displaced, and lonely.
Mary was one of them. She offers some inspiring lessons for those who walk alongside women who face an unplanned pregnancy.
When Mary discovered she was to be pregnant, she was confused. “How can this happen?” she asked the angel. Mary was not unfamiliar with how families came to be and she knew she hadn’t followed the necessary steps.
Whatever your confusion when you discover you are pregnant, it can throw you off kilter and distract you. The ensuing turmoil can lead you to make poor mistakes. In the middle of it all, confusion can make you doubt God.
But in the middle of her confusion, God gave Mary assurance. She didn’t receive a thorough explanation about how her pregnancy would happen. Mary’s confusion didn’t clear up.
She was still confused but she proceeded. She simply took the next step.
Women who face an unplanned pregnancy may continue to feel confused – but they can make good decisions in the midst of that confusion. You can, too.
For You To Pray
Gracious Father,
Thank you for the gift of life. Speak to women who face an unplanned pregnancy. Bring assurance to their confusion. Strengthen their ability to make good decisions and trust you.
In Jesus name, Amen.
